Our japanese friend and gadget artist Ryota Kuwakubo is currently setting up his installation «The Tenth Sentiment» for the exhibition at Gallery Lucy Mackintosh, Avenue des Acacias 7, 1006 Lausanne, Switzerland. Opening: 27th of October. Exhibition from 28th October – 26th of November 2011. The installation got the Excellence Prize, Art Division, Japan Media Arts Festival 2010 and we had the luck to see it in Tokyo last year. Highly recommended!

I Think I Miss You is about missing something and not wanting to admit it, or not acknowledging the absence before it is too late. Adrift with a very modern ennui, a sense of loss can offer comfort in it’s familiarity and utter inevitability. The work is rooted in pop and pulp. Contemporary character design and bold, colourful graphics are fused with a DIY fine art aesthetic to form an unique world. On the surface the colours and characters belie a charmed harmonious existence. Rooted within the skewed works are playful surreal kinks, laconic wit and a revealing truth.

GameCulture is drawing attention to the social, economic and aesthetic aspects of computer games and exploring the characteristics of the genre as a new art form. Pro Helvetia will be exploring the medium of computer games from autumn 2010 to 2012, staging three different exhibitions, a call for projects and a number of panel discussions and conferences.

Autostadt, the themepark and communications platform of Volkswagen in Wolfsburg, opened a new installation “Mobiglobe”. The project has been conceived and produced by Hosoya Schaefer Architects, Zurich (Concept, script) in collaboration with blm film production, Hamburg (Production, script, direction), Shiftcontrol Studios, Copenhagen (Production interactive stations), Buro Destruct, Berne (Graphic consulting, styleguide) and Autostadt.

The installation shows mobility as the systemic interplay between transportation, city structure, resource flows and lifestyle. Its main message is that sustainable mobility needs to be based not only on improved cars running on renewable energy or new solutions for public transport, but also on urban planning strategies, resource management and changes in personal lifestyle. Only with combined measures in all areas can mobility truly be optimized.

In the film, presented on six over-sized rear projection panels arranged like the windows of a car, four visionaries are presenting their projects or concepts; in the same space, six interactive stations add detail and explain the defining parameters of each project.
